Ryan Reynolds is remembering a member of the Deadpool family.
The actor shared a statement following an accident Monday on the set of Deadpool 2 that saw a stunt person killed.
“Today, we tragically lost a member of the crew while filming Deadpool. We’re heartbroken, devastated… but recognize nothing can come close to the grief and inexplicable pain her family and loved ones must feel in this moment. My heart pours out to them — along with each and every person she touched in this world,” Reynolds wrote in a statement.
The Vancouver Police Department confirmed earlier on Monday that a stunt person had died. Eyewitness accounts to local news said the stunt person had performed the scene four times in practice, but on the fifth attempt the unidentified woman appeared to lose control of the motorcycle she was riding and drove into a nearby building, through glass.
Deadpool 2 has been shooting since late June, with director David Leitch at the helm. Josh Brolin stars alongside Reynolds as Cable. Leitch also expressed his condolences, saying in a statement, “No words can express how I and the rest of the Deadpool 2 crew feel about this tragedy. Our thoughts are with her family, friends and loved ones in this difficult time.” Earlier Monday, studio 20th Century Fox also expressed its condolences, saying in a statement, “Our hearts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues of our crew member during this difficult time.”
Deadpool 2 is set to bow June 1, 2018.
