Daniel Seah, current CEO of visual effects company Digital Domain, has been promoted to the position of executive director and CEO of its parent company, Digital Domain Holdings Limited, which is traded on the Hong Kong stock exchange.
As head of Digital Domain Holdings (previously Sun Innovation) Seah effectively has more authority to broker new ventures, co-productions or other such deals. He will also continue as CEO at Digital Domain, a position he started in July 2013 when the VFX business was sold to Sun.

The company is currently creating VFX for Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb and Fast and Furious 7. Recent work included co-production of Ender’s Game and a creation of a “virtual” pop artist Teresa Teng for live concerts in Taiwan and Hong Kong.
“Daniel has shown a keen ability to identify new business channels and creative opportunities for the talented artists at Digital Domain 3.0,” said Digital Domain Holdings chairman Jian Zhou in a statement.
Digital Domain, with bases in Playa Vista and Vancouver, uses the term “3.0” to describe itself following a series of ownership changes that have made it a closely-watched VFX business. After filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2012, China’s Galloping Horse became its majority owner. Galloping Horse U.S. was then acquired by Sun in 2013.

Stan Lee additionally provided a statement, saying: “In the time I’ve known Daniel I can say he is dedicated and tirelessly creative. With this new role and his leadership I see a bright, innovative and exciting future.”
