Olivia Holt, star of the Disney Channel’s I Didn’t Do It, has joined Paramount’s faith-based drama Same Kind of Different as Me.
She joins Renee Zellweger, Greg Kinnear, Djimon Hounsou and Jon Voight in the film, which is based on the nonfiction book by Ron Hall and Denver Moore with Lynn Vincent, author of the best-selling book Heaven Is for Real.
Michael Carney is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Alexander Foard and Hall. The film is currently shooting in Jackson, Mississippi.
The story centers on Ron Hall (Kinnear), an international art dealer who must befriend a dangerous homeless man (Hounsou) in order to save his struggling marriage to his wife, Debbie (Zellweger).
Holt will play Regan, the daughter of Ron and Debbie Hall.
Mary Parent and Cale Boyter are producing through Disruption Entertainment, alongside Darren Moorman, Stephen Johnson and Hall. The executive producers are Chris Bancroft, Hans Graffunder, Carney and Foard.
Holt currently stars as Lindy in the Disney Channel original series I Didn’t Do It, which is about to start production for season two. She also played Kim in the Disney XD martial arts series Kickin’ It, and has a record deal with Hollywood Records. Earlier this year, she sang the theme song “Carry On” in the DisneyNatures film Bears.
Holt is repped by Principato-Young Entertainment, Paradigm and Morris Yorn.
