TORONTO — Imax has added Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures’ action-adventure film John Carter to its 2012 film releasing slate.
Toronto-based Imax said the Disney pic from Oscar-winning director Andrew Stanton will be released on its super-sized 3D screens simultaneous with the film’s worldwide release on March 9, 2012.
Imax will digitally re-master a version of John Carter, which is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs and stars Taylor Kitsch, Willem Dafoe and Lynn Collins.
Imax earlier this year released Walt Disney’s 3D version of the Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz-starrer Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides on 257 screens domestically and another 139 screens internationally.
