Dominic Monaghan, Orphan Black actress Ksenia Solo, iCarly’s Jennette McCurdy and Nathan Parsons of The Originals are starring in indie horror thriller Pet.
Carles Torrens, who directed the 2012 horror film Apartment 143, is behind the camera for the movie, which began production this week and is a co-production between Revolver Picture Company and Spanish company Magic Lantern.
Written by Jeremy Slater, the story centers on an introverted man who imprisons a woman, only to find the tables turned on him. The project is said to be tonally in the vein of Gone Girl and Hard Candy.
The project has been in the works since about 2007, when it was first set up at MGM. Monaghan has been intent on making the feature since at least 2008.
Torrens is producing alongside Revolver’s Nick Phillips and Kelly Martin Wagner. Revolver was involved in horror movies such as Haunt and Beneath.
Monaghan, repped by APA, is best known for his key roles in The Lord of the Rings trilogy as well as ABC’s Lost. He is shooting the third season of his travel show Wild Things With Dominic Monaghan, which returns to the Travel Channel January 2016.
In addition to Orphan Black, Solo appears on AMC’s Revolutionary War show Turn. The actress, who also co-starred on Syfy’s Lost Girl, is repped by Paradigm.
McCurdy, who also appeared on Sam & Cat, is part of Netflix’s Between. She is repped by UTA and Management 360.
Parsons, whose credits include HBO’s True Blood, is repped by Innovative and Creative Partners Group.
