DreamWorks Animation has acquired the fantasy novel series The Wizards of Once from Cressida Cowell, the best-selling author behind the How to Train Your Dragon series.
“Cressida is part of the DreamWorks family and with The Wizards of Once she once again anchors a new franchise for us,” DreamWorks Feature Animation Group president Chris DeFaria said Thursday in a statement announcing the news.
The upcoming series is set in a world of magic where wizards and warriors collide. The first installment will be released this fall through Little, Brown Books for Young Readers in the U.S. and Hodder Children’s Books in the U.K.
How to Train Your Dragon 3 is currently in production and is set to hit theaters March 1, 2019.
