Edgar Wright will direct an adaptation of Stephen King’s The Running Man for Paramount.
The 1982 novel follows a man who attempts to win a reality TV game where the only objective is to stay alive. (A 1987 adaptation starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.)
Michael Bacall will pen the screenplay.
Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon will produce through his Genre Films banner, alongside Nira Park from Wright’s Complete Fiction banner.
Wright recently screened The Sparks Brothers, a doc that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was about the cult pop group Sparks. He will next release the horror thriller Last Night in Soho via Focus Features.
