Edi Gathegi will join Jeremy Irons in the indie romantic drama Monumental.
Brett Simon (Assassination of a High School President) will direct the feature. The plot centers on Stephanie (Analeigh Tipton) and Harley (Tony winner Alex Sharp), a duo who kill their store manager and go on the run. Along the way they hope to reunite Harley’s grandfather with his former lover.
Gathegi will play the charmer Fitz, a man on the run to escape his life of privilege.
Maria Bello and Deadpool‘s Karan Soni also star in Monumental, which was written by Annie Burgstede and Chad Faust. Eric Fischer is producing. Principal photography is set to begin in Kentucky.
Currently, Gathegi can be seen on NBC’s The Blacklist, a role he will reprise in the series’ spinoff The Blacklist: Redemption. His feature film credits include the Twilight franchise and Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class. He next will be seen opposite Keke Palmer in the drama Pimp.
Gathegi is repped by ICM and Framework.
