Elizabeth Banks and Tracee Ellis Ross are among the industry names who will be honored by Women in Film, Los Angeles, at the group’s 2017 Crystal + Lucy Awards.
Banks will receive the Crystal Award for Excellence in Film, while Ross will be honored with the Lucy Award for Excellent in Television.
This year’s honorees also include Zoey Deutch (Everybody Wants Some!!, Why Him?), who will be presented with the Women in Film Max Mara Face of the Future Award, and Queen of Katwe helmer Mira Nair, who will receive the BMW Dorothy Arzner Directors Award.
Additionally, Dan Rather will be honored with the Norma Zarky Humanitarian Award. Michael Barker and Tom Bernard, co-presidents and co-founders of Sony Pictures Classics, will receive the Women in Film Beacon Award.
The awards will be handed out at a fundraising dinner, which supports WIF LA’s educational and philanthropic programs and its advocacy for gender parity for women, that’s set for Tuesday, June 13, at the Beverly Hilton. The event will be hosted by actress and comedian Jessica Williams.
“Throughout the last five years, Women in Film has focused its efforts on research, raising awareness, and sustainable solutions for gender parity in media,” WIF LA President Cathy Schulman said. “The theme of this year’s Crystal + Lucy Awards gala is ‘Evolve,’ reflecting the advocacy work we’ve done, the pressing demand for systemic change, and the promise of an inclusive future.”
Added Iris Grossman, president emerita of WIF LA, who returns as chair of the awards, said: “We are proud to celebrate this year’s honorees, who are also focused on gender parity solutions and changing the system, through their artistry, their leadership, and by their example.”
