Xosha Roquemore, who plays Tamra on The Mindy Project, has joined The Runaround, which stars Emile Hirsch and JK Simmons.
The Art Of Getting By director Gavin Wiesen is helming the film from a screenplay by Seth W. Owen. The story centers on a workaholic father (Simmons) who attempts to visit his daughter during a last-minute layover in Los Angeles only to discover that she’s disappeared. He’s forced to team up with her awkward ex-boyfriend (Hirsch) to find her over the course of one night. Kristen Schaal recently joined the project along with Jon Daly, Taran Killam, Hunter Parrish, Analeigh Tipton and Shannon Woodward.
Spring Pictures’ Mandy Tagger-Brockey and Adi Ezroni are producing with Wing and a Prayer Pictures’ Ron Perlman and Josh Crook, and P. Jennifer Dana. The film is produced in association with Abbolita Films and Heretic Films. The project is currently shooting in Los Angeles.
The Solution Entertainment Group is handling international rights. Gersh and UTA, which arranged the financing, are co-repping North American rights.
Roquemore and will reprise the role of Tamra on The Mindy Project when the show moves to Hulu this fall. Her other credits include Lee Daniel’s Precious and The Butler, and the indie comedy GBF. She’s repped by SDB Partners and Authentic.
