Emma Roberts and Dave Franco are set to star in Nerve, Lionsgate’s adaptation of the young adult novel by Jeanne Ryan.
Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, who directed Catfish, are directing the project, which was written by Jessica Sharzer.

The novel tells of a high school senior wallflower who, in an attempt to broaden her horizons, joins a global online game of provocative truth or dare while an audience of “watchers” vote and comment. But as she becomes a sensation and advances higher and higher, the game evolves and soon she finds herself in a dangerous situation.
Erik Feig, Jeyun Choi and Jessica Switch are overseeing for the studio. Stephen Meinen, vp at Allison Shearmur Productions, will also be overseeing the production.
Roberts recently appeared on FX’s American Horror Story: Freak Show and American Horror Story: Coven. She will next star in Ryan Murphy’s horror comedy TV series Scream Queens. Roberts is repped by CAA and Sweeney Management.
Franco is currently in production on Now You See Me 2 and last appeared in scene-stealing roles in Neighbors and the Jumpstreet movies. He is repped by CAA.
