Emma Stone is circling Love May Fail, an adaptation of Matthew Quick’s novel.
Quick’s sixth novel, which hit shelves in June, follows a woman who, after her marriage crumbles, moves back to her childhood home in South Jersey where she attempts to help her former high school English teacher get his life back together after a traumatic classroom incident.
Mike White adapted Quick’s novel for the big screen. In 2014, Sam Raimi was attached to direct, but is no longer involved, and a new director has not been set. The project has also moved from Columbia to TriStar. Matt Tolmach is producing with Elizabeth Cantillon.
Stone’s recent films include Irrational Man, Aloha and Birdman. She most recently worked on Whiplash director Damien Chazelle’s musical La La Land. She’s also attached to The Favourite with Rachel Weisz. She’s repped by WME, Anonymous Content and Ziffren Brittenham.
