Emma Watson says she’s excited to be moving on from Harry Potter.
“During these movies, it felt like my training ground,” she said at the NYC premiere of the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 Monday night.

“I feel like I’m graduating from school and now I’m ready to go take everything I learned and go and hopefully do more good work,” added Watson, who donned a Bottega Veneta gown and Lorraine Schwartz earrings to the premiere. (In London, she opted for Oscar de la Renta.)
She says she’s pleased with how the final movie turned out, though — especially her kiss scene with Rupert Grint, who plays longtime pal Ron Weasley in the movie.

“Obviously he’s been like a brother to me and we have so much history that it was obviously very hard to put all of that aside and be professional, but we tried and I am very happy with how it looks in the movie,” Watson said. “In London, the audience gave it a pretty great response, so I’m happy.”
But her favorite scene in the final movie takes place with Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry Potter.
“There is a moment in the last movie where I dance with Dan and that was a really nice day for me and a nice moment,” she says.

With the Harry Potter films wrapping up, Watson will attend Oxford this fall. She went to Brown for two years, but recently put her education on hold.
“I was commuting back and forth between the U.S. and the U.K. trying to fulfill my commitment to this enormous Harry Potter franchise and it just wasn’t feasible,” she recently told the U.K. Daily Mirror. “I’m only human. I wasn’t getting the best out of either my studies or the filming, so I decided to give a proper goodbye to 10 years of work and resume my studies later.”

She will also star opposite Michelle Williams and Kenneth Branagh in My Week With Marilyn, and is lined up for coming-of-age film The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
