Its core plot elements mgiht almost be mistaken from "The Hangover Part II" remade as a thriller, but that would be trivializing this psychologically complex account of one man's unexplained disappearance during a Southeast Asian vacation.
Joe AndersonEntertainment One has signed a first-look deal with Aussie producers Angie Fielder, Polly Staniford and Cecilia Ritchie of Aquarius Films, covering both film and TV.
eOne and Aquarius will jointly develop, produce and distribute Australian movie and TV fare for the global market. The deal follows the two companies jointly releasing Aquarius’ Wish You Were Here, starring Joel Edgerton and Teresa Palmer, and collaborating on Cate Shortland’s upcoming film Berlin Syndrome.
“We look forward to working with them across film and TV, to help develop and produce a slate that has both broad international and local appeal,” Troy Lum, managing director of eOne Films Australia and New Zealand, said Monday in a statement.
Lum will oversee film development and production, while Jude Troy, eOne’s executive vp acquisitions and TV development, Australia and New Zealand, will lead the TV projects for the studio.
Aquarius’ current projects include Lion, the debut film from Top of the Lake director Garth Davis, and the documentary Roller Dreams, directed by Australian expat (and Girls editor) Kate Hickey.
Berlin Syndrome will be distributed in Australia by eOne.
