Pascal Le Segretain/Getty ImagesCOLOGNE, Germany — Five-time Oscar nominee and honorary Oscar-winner Ennio Morricone will add another trophy to his well-stocked awards shelf after being named European Cinema Composer 2013 by the European Film Academy for his score to Giuseppe Tornatore‘s The Best Offer.
“[Morricone proves] once again his extraordinary capacity of always renewing his style while remaining faithful to the style of the director and the film — a universal composer, indeed, and a true master,” said the seven-person EFA jury, which announced the winners in the main technical categories on Monday.

European cinematographer of the year went to Asaf Sudri for his lensing of Rama Burshtein‘s Israeli drama Fill the Void, about a young Hasidic Jewish woman pressured into an arranged marriage to an older widower. Cristiano Travaglioli? took the EFA’s best editing honor for his work on Paolo Sorrentino‘s Cannes Competition entry The Grand Beauty, while European production designer of 2013 went to Sarah Greenwood for her re-creation of the Russian royal court in Joe Wright‘s Anna Karenina adaptation starring Keira Knightley.
The honor for best costume design went to Paco Delgado for Blancanieves, the black-and-white take on the Snow White fairy tale from Spanish director Pablo Berger; while Matz Muller and Erik Mischijew won the award for European sound design for their work on Paradise: Faith from Austrian director Ulrich Seidl.
The winners will be honored at the 2013 European Film Awards in Berlin on Dec. 7. The main competition categories, including best film and best director, will be voted on directly by members of the European Film Academy and announced live at the awards ceremony.
