Netflix on Wednesday released the first trailer for Extinction.
The sci-fi thriller, which the streaming service picked up from Universal, stars Michael Pena (Ant-Man and the Wasp, A Wrinkle in Time), Lizzy Caplan (Cloverfield, Mean Girls) and Mike Colter (Luke Cage, The Good Wife). Ben Young (Hounds of Love) directed the pic, while Spenser Cohen and Brad Caleb Kane penned the script.
The trailer shows Pena as a working-class father who suffers from recurring dreams of destruction by an unknown force. As an alien army descends upon his city, he realizes his visions may serve as the key to his family’s survival. The man — along with his wife (Caplan), children and friend (Cotler) — attempts to escape the brutal invaders and prevent the extinction of humankind.
The film is set to premiere July 27 on the streaming service.
