Eion Bailey sizes up Barkhad Abdi in The Hollywood Reporter‘s first look at Extortion.
The action thriller sees a family’s Caribbean vacation go from bad to worse when they get stranded on an island, only to be shaken down by cold-blooded fishermen who demand $1 million to rescue them.
Abdi, who won a BAFTA and earned an Oscar nomination for his role as a Somali pirate in Captain Phillips, stars in the film alongside Bailey, Danny Glover and Bethany Joy Lenz. Phil Volken directs from his own script.
Thirteen Films is handling international sales on the thriller, which already has been snapped up by Grindstone/Lionsgate for North America.
