Tyrese Gibson paid tribute to his late co-star and friend Paul Walker as their upcoming film, Fast & Furious 7, wrapped production.
The actor posted images on Instagram of himself with director James Wan and Walker’s brothers Cody and Caleb, who stood in for Walker to finish some of the action scenes and other parts of the film that were not completed before his tragic death in November. Walker’s siblings were enlisted to “complete some remaining action for their brother and fill in small gaps left in production,” the studio said in a Facebook note in April.
In his caption, Gibson said the image was taken at the movie’s wrap party. He added: “Emotional and bittersweet….. In the end you always got #Family.”
He also mentioned Walker’s 15-year-old daughter, Meadow: “Through prayers and determination and moving forward inspired by my heart Paul Walker we got through….. The BEST CAST AND CREW IN THE WORLD…. The fans and supporters around the world… We LOVE YOU…… I wanna dedicate this moment to my niece Meadow Walker…. Uncle Ty loves you….. April 3rd we’re gonna unleash this magic on the world……………. I miss you heart…. I miss you P-Dub!!!!”
Cody and Gibson also posted an image of the two of them together.
Cody’s caption read: “That’s a wrap baby! Look at those teeth! @tyrese #beautiful #brothers #FF7 #FastandFurious7 #roww #Reachoutworldwide #Reachoutww #fastfamily #codywalkerroww”
Walker died Nov. 30 at age 40 in a fiery car accident in Valencia, Calif., alongside his friend Roger Rodas. In December, while visiting the site where Walker had died the day before, Gibson broke down in tears and visibly struggled to keep his emotions under control.
Meanwhile, the Fast & Furious 7 Facebook page announced Thursday that production had wrapped.
“Our family is big and strong but it won’t ever quite be whole again without Paul,” the post read. “All of us — those who’ve been here from the start and those whose first FAST film is 7 — wanted to create a special film for him and for you. We believe we have.”
Fast 7 also stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and Michelle Rodriguez. It’s set to open April 3, 2015, via Universal.
