Imagination Worldwide will develop and produce Tony Kayden’s screenplay Darker Saints, a taut New Orleans-set thriller.
The story revolves around a female FBI forensics expert who is called in to assist the police in profiling a vicious serial killer. The agent has just returned from Bosnia, where she helped identify the remains of entire male bloodlines wiped-out during the horrors of ethnic cleansing. She is stunned to discover that this killer is wiping out the entire female bloodline of another family — her own — and she’s his next victim.
Imagination Worldwide (IWW) is an international film sales and distribution company, based in Los Angeles since 2003. Recently acquired by a new owner, Michelle Mower, the company is focused on developing, producing and distributing motion pictures that are visually engaging and targeted towards women (Darker Saints fits the bill with a smart and complex female lead.)
Producer Scott Schneid brought the project to IWW and Mower.
“Imagination Worldwide is committed to content which features complex, well-written female roles in compelling, thought-provoking stories. Darker Saints’ protagonist is a brilliant forensic expert and successful writer who, despite her achievements, still struggles with self-doubt and asserting herself in the male-dominated world of crime investigation. Her strength and humanity spoke to me and we look forward to bringing the story to the screen,” said IWW CEO Mower.
Kayden previously wrote Slipstream, American Pastime and Out of Bounds.
Imagination Worldwide will release Amber Tamblyn’s feature directorial debut, Paint it Black, in May.
