The AMBI Group is ready to hop in the driver’s seat for a biopic about Ferruccio Lamborghini, founder of the famous car that bears his name.
Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi’s company will finance and produce the film about the Italian businessman’s life, based on a book and input from Lamborghini’s son, Tonino.
The film, with the working title Lamborghini — The Legend, is eyeing a summer shoot in Italy. The story will center on the entrepreneur’s life and work, from manufacturing tractors to creating military vehicles during World War II and then on to designing and building the Lamborghini cars that ultimately defined his legacy. The pic will also explore his lavish lifestyle, love of cars and love life.
“I am very proud to produce a film about an iconic man who had such a profound impact around the world, and left a legacy that lives on in such strong spirit,” Iervolino said in a statement. “Ferruccio Lamborghini was a pioneering businessman who brought honor to Italy and helped raise worldwide awareness for not just cars, but all products made in Italy. He started from scratch, relying only on his great passion and an unbridled desire to succeed in life — a desire he fulfilled.”
AMBI Distribution, the worldwide sales arm of the AMBI Group, will handle worldwide sales rights on the film.
