No one ever suspects the Spanish Inquisition — well, no one apart from Michael Fassbender that is, judging from the first trailer for Assassin’s Creed.
It debuted on Jimmy Kimmel Live! In it we see a future Fassbender subjected to some kind of experiment to get in touch with a past Fassbender who seems rather adept at killing people.
The movie doesn’t seem to closely follow the popular video game franchise it’s based on. But most of the action does take place in medieval Spain, and there are plenty of rooftop running and fight scenes to keep fans interested.
Directed by Justin Curzel, Assassin’s Creed also stars French actress Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons and Michael K. Williams. It hits theaters on Dec. 21.
