An aviator-clad Bill Murray plays a washed-up rock manager in Barry Levinson’s Rock the Kasbah. In a last-ditch effort to revive his career, he takes his remaining client on a USO tour of Afghanistan, but soon finds himself penniless and passport-less in Kabul. In hopes of escaping his dire situation, he offers to manage a promising young singer through Afghanistan’s version of American Idol.
Here, The Hollywood Reporter debuts an exclusive first-look at Murray as the music manager.
Mitch Glazer wrote the script for the project, which is produced by Glazer, Jacob Pechenik and Steve Bing. Bruce Willis, Kate Hudson, Leem Lubany, Scott Caan and Zooey Deschanel also star.
Fortitude International is selling the dramedy on behalf of QED International at the fest, while Open Road will release the film in the U.S.
