Ellen Page is in talks to star in the remake of ‘90s sci-fi thriller Flatliners.
The director of the original Swedish Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Niels Arden Oplev, is on board to helm from a screenplay by Source Code scribe Ben Ripley, with David Blackman and Laurence Mark as producers.
Julia Roberts, Kiefer Sutherland and Kevin Bacon starred in the 1990 original, in which medical students discover how to journey into the afterworld and then resurrect themselves — but, as often happens when anyone attempts to cheat death, things begin to go amiss.
The movie was nominated for an Oscar for sound effects editing.
Page can be seen in the drama Freeheld, as the life partner of a police detective dying of cancer, played by Julianne Moore, who fights to get her government pension left to Page’s character. The film opened in a limited release Oct. 2. Another of Page’s films, Into the Forest, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, where it was acquired by A24.
The Inception actress is repped by WME, Vie Entertainment and Morris & Yorn.
