Garrett Hedlund has been offered the role of Captain Hook in Pan, Warner Bros.’ gritty Peter Pan origin story slated for summer 2015, THR has confirmed.
Joe Wright, who directed Atonement and Pride & Prejudice, is tackling the project, which centers on how Pan and the man who becomes Captain Hook start out as friends, with Hook working as a member of the crew on Blackbeard’s pirate ship.
Hugh Jackman has been courted for the role of Blackbeard, but is unconfirmed. In the script from Jason Fuchs, Blackbeard is the film’s villain. Greg Berlanti is producing. Sarah Schechter is overseeing for the studio.
Hedlund can currently be seen in the Coen brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis and has a role in the Angelina Jolie-directed drama Unbroken, slated for December 2014.
The actor is repped by WME and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
