The second annual awards ceremony has been set for Aug. 17 at The Avalon Hollywood. Gibson Brands, Inc. and POW! Entertainment, co-founded by Stan Lee, are among the companies that have joined as sponsors.
“Joining forces with Gibson was a logical choice, as the company has a history of supporting the creative arts, and many of our submissions to this year’s award show heavily embraced music to propel their themes and stories,” said Kristen Nedopak, who created the awards.

Awards will be doled out for the best comic books and graphic novels, video games, short films, web series and podcasts, among other categories. Lee received last year’s lifetime achievement award, and the award has now been named in his honor.
“As a geek myself, it is a personal privilege to support The Geekie Awards,” said Gibson Brands CEO Henry E. Juszkiewicz. “As an enterprise, Gibson Brands is committed to creators and to bringing the fruits of their creative output to consumers, ensuring their creative work is reproduced in the most exceptional way, with brands like Philips, Onkyo and TEAC.”
