For decades, there has been a stewing tension between Star Trek and Star Wars.
Fueled by recent comments from respective franchise stars William Shatner and Carrie Fisher, it won’t likely cool down any time soon — unless George Takei gets his way.

The 74-year-old actor, who played Hikaru Sulu in the original Star Trek series, released a plea on YouTube that fans of both sci-fi properties forget their differences and focus on the real problem: Twilight.
His suggestion is clearly tongue-in-cheek viral bait, but his thoughts on the vampire series are pretty harsh.
“Gone is any sense of heroism, camaraderie or epic battle. In its place we have vampires that sparkle, moan and go to high school,” he says. “Sci-fi fans be warned, there are no great stories, characters or profound life lessons to be found in Twilight… In Twilight, the only message that rings through loud and clear is: ‘Does my boyfriend like me?'”
