Ghostbuster Film Still - P 2011
Columbia Pictures/Courtesy Everett CollectionSony Pictures is still working on putting together a new sequel to Ghostbusters, but in the meantime it is planning a limited rerelease of the 1984 original.
The classic comedy, directed by Ivan Reitman and starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver, will not be getting a full-fledged, wide release a la The Lion King, but instead will be booked into theaters on three Thursday nights in October, beginning Oct. 13.
Ghostbusters will show in approximately 500 theaters across the U.S. on Oct. 15, 20 and 27. It will also play select theaters in Canada and various international markets. The movie, which will screen in 2K digital with 5.1 surround sound, will have one showing each night at the participating theaters.

As we head towards Halloween, we ain’t afraid of no ghosts, but just the same, we’re glad that everyone’s favorite paranormal eliminators are on the case,” Rory Bruer, Sony president, worldwide distribution, said.
