GQ has responded to Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s claims that the magazine’s comments about his older brother’s Daniel Gordon-Levitt’s death in October 2010 were “factually incorrect” and made him feel “terrible.”
An editor’s note posted to GQ.com states: “Because the writer, Amy Wallace, and her editors understood the pain Dan’s passing caused the Gordon-Levitt family, the story sought to be respectful—and brief—in the way it described his death, which GQ felt was a relevant fact in Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s biography.”

“The magazine stands by its reporting,” the statement continues, “the facts of which are fully supported — and have been confirmed in detail — by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.”
The Dark Knight Rises star wrote on his personal Tumblr last week that the magazine, which featured him on their August cover, incorrectly speculated that his older brother, a professional fire spinner who went by the stage name Burning Dan, had died from “an alleged drug overdose.”
“Using the word ‘alleged’ technically allows the writer to say whatever she wants,” Gordon-Levitt wrote. “The ‘allegations’ to which she must be referring were made by a handful of gossip websites.”
