Guardians of the Galaxy was a success for Marvel last year, drawing $775 million worldwide. Now Disney XD is hoping to capitalize on the MCU’s success with their an animated Guardians of the Galaxy series. It’s unlikely that the series will follow the canon found in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the promo spot features actions sequences set to Blue Swede’s “Hooked on a Feeling” similar to its live-action counterpart.
The series stars Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord voiced by Will Friedle, Trevor Devall as Rocket Raccoon, Vanessa Marshall as the beautiful but deadly Gamora, David Sobolov is the literal Drax the Destroyer, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Groot. James Arnold Taylor will voice Yondu — the leader of the Ravagers and the telepathic dog, Cosmo.
The series is set to premiere on Disney XD on Sept. 26 at 9 p.m.
