Directors Guillermo del Toro and Alejandro G. Inarritu showed off their pipes in Cannes on Tuesday night.
At a star-studded gala event celebrating the 70th anniversary of Cannes, table 46 ended up being the place to be when a Mexican mariachi band appeared after midnight, led by del Toro. Salma Hayek had organized the performance as a surprise.

Also joining in on the singing were Diego Luna, Mads Mikkelsen, Gael Garcia Bernal, Isabelle Huppert, Berenice Bejo and Michel Hazanavicius.
Hayek’s generosity didn’t stop with the band, which played “Cielito Lindo,” and “Happy Birthday” in Spanish. “I brought 11 bottles from Paris,” Hayek told a member of the crowd before running off to get the bottles. The star called it a “gift for Thierry [Fremaux],” director of the Cannes Film Festival, who joined in on the singalong, and at one point stood on a chair and pretended to lead the crowd in a song.
