Harrison Ford greets an enthusiastic crowd at the TCL Chinese Theatre where he and fellow cast members attended the premiere of Gavin Hood’s Ender’s Game. The prolific actor plays Colonel Graff, the brutal antihero who pushes Ender to the brink, in the sci-fi feature.
Jordan Strauss/Invision/APHarrison Ford made an emergency landing of his World War II plane on a Venice golf course on Thursday, a strategic move that “the best pilots in the world would do” said Relativity CEO Ryan Kavanaugh.
The Indiana Jones legend’s plane engine experienced problems shortly after takeoff on Mar. 5, requiring the actor to land the aircraft on an open patch of grass on the Penmar golf course. Ford was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries directly after landing, which was followed by an outpour of support from Hollywood friends, family and fans.
Ben Ford, a chef and son of the 72-year-old actor, confirmed speculations that Ford piloted the plane with a Twitter update from the hospital.
“At the hospital. Dad is ok. Battered, but ok! He is every bit the man you would think he is. He is an incredibly strong man,” Ben Ford wrote in a tweet, later adding “Thank you all for your thoughts and good vibes for my dad.”

Later on Thursday evening, Ford’s publicist released a statement with an update: “Harrison was flying a WW2 vintage plane today that had engine trouble upon takeoff. He had no other choice but to make an emergency landing, which he did safely. He was banged up and is in the hospital receiving medical care. The injuries sustained are not life-threatening, and he is expected to make a full recovery.”
