Harvey Weinstein and Bob Weinstein are to receive the International Cinematographers Guild Publicists’ Motion Picture Showmen of the Year award, it was announced Wednesday.
The honor will be presented to the Weinstein Co. co-founders at the 52nd Publicists Awards Luncheon on Feb. 20 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. “Harvey and Bob Weinstein have a knack for creating Oscar buzz that compares them favorably with Hollywood legends Samuel Goldwyn, Louis B. Mayer, David O. Selznick and Jack Warner,” publicists awards committee chairman Henri Bollinger said in a statement.

The Weinstein brothers — who have netted best picture Oscars for The English Patient, Shakespeare in Love, Chicago, The King’s Speech and The Artist — are back in the hunt this year with The Imitation Game, which has 10 Academy Award nominations.
“The Weinsteins are the very epitome of showmanship. They have impeccable taste and are universally regarded as the industry leaders in awards campaigns,” ICG national president Steven Poster said in his own statement Wednesday. The publicists of the International Cinematographers Guild previously announced they will give Motion Picture Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs the president’s award and comedian Bob Newhart will be the lifetime achievement award recipient at their 52nd annual luncheon.
