A 22-year-old woman has filed a police report against Harvey Weinstein, claiming he groped her at the Tribeca Film Center in New York on Friday, and Weinstein was questioned by the police on Saturday. The matter is still under investigation, and no charges have been filed.
A spokesperson for the NYPD confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the woman, whose identity hasn’t been released, filed the report around 8:30 p.m. Friday, roughly two hours after the alleged incident. According to police, the woman alleged that Weinstein had groped her breast.
An account of the incident by The New York Times, citing police sources, said Weinstein voluntarily agreed to an interview with police, accompanying them to New York’s First Precinct, where he answered questions before asking to leave to consult a lawyer.
According to the Times account, Weinstein met the woman for the first time Thursday night at a social event at Radio City Music Hall, where he has produced the current spring show, New York Spring Spectacular. The two later exchanged emails, the police sources told the newspaper, and the woman visited Weinstein at his offices at the Tribeca Film Center, at 375 Greenwhich St., on Friday afternoon, where, sources told the Times, they met privately, and the woman alleges he touched her inappropriately.
The New York District Attorney’s office would not comment on whether video of the alleged incident had been obtained by investigators. Reps for Weinstein have not returned calls seeking comment.
