Japan’s Dream Kid, the U.S.’s New Parteneri Holdings and South Korea’s Kino33 Entertainment are partnering on On the Mark, a dance-romance that will mark the feature directorial debut of Harvey White.
The $20 million, English-language production is being produced by Doug McHenry of Elephant Walk/McHenry Entertainment. Dream Kid’s Hiroki Ohwada is executive producer. Co-executive producers are Ray Sefo, president of the World Series of Fighting, and Shinataro Yamamoto, who ran the New Latin Quarter nightclub in Tokyo after World War II. Co-producing are Paul Guilfoile of Japan’s Guilfoile Connections, Masato Kobayashi of A K-Group and Isao Nagata of Dream East.

The movie will be supported by $23 million in P&A funds provided by Cinevoyage, headed by CEO Michael Harpster.
The film, written by T. Von Jones, Ohwada and Willi Vision, will center around two brothers who dream of becoming world class dancers who are torn apart by sibling rivalry, performance pressures and their interest in the same girl. It will feature J-pop and K-pop artists and shoot primarily in Las Vegas, with additional scenes filmed in Tokyo.
Tai Truesdelland Farouk Hadef of Pipeline MPG will serve as foreign sales agent for the film, which will be offered at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.
McHenry, who is producing, has previously produced such titles as Two Can Play That Game, The Walking Dead, Jason’s Lyric, House Party 2 and3, New Jack City and Krush Groove and the upcoming House Party: Tonight’s the Night.
White, who is directing, has served as editor or dance editor on music videos for such performers as Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Nas, 50 Cent, R. Kelly, Missy Elliott, Babyface and Will Smith and also worked on the features How High, You Got Served andSave the Last Dance 2.
