The end is nigh for Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy, with the first trailer for the final film in the sequence — The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies — being released online following its debut at San Diego Comic-Con.
The trailer — almost without dialogue beyond an opening speech from Martin Freeman’s Bilbo Baggins in which he promises to remember “everything that happened: the good, the bad, those that survived — and those that did not” — features many familiar faces from the trilogy to date, including Evangeline Lilly, Richard Armitage and Orlando Bloom amid scenes of battle on a truly epic scale, as befits the fantasy series.
The Battle of the Five Armies will be released in theaters on Dec. 17.
