The HollyShorts 14th annual short film festival will kick off Aug. 9 with Game of Thrones star Nathalie Emmanuel starring in the short film Run, directed by Alex Lanipekun, and Maisie Williams, a fellow star of the HBO series, featuring in Mark Lobatto’s short Stealing Silver.
In all, nearly 400 shorts will compete for prizes at HollyShorts, which will also open at TCL Chinese Theater with screenings of Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce star Lisa Edelstein’s own short Unzipping, and The Day of Matthew Montgomery, directed by Jesse Bradford.
Other opening shorts include Jocelyn Stamat’s Laboratory Conditions, starring Marisa Tomei, Minnie Driver and Paulo Costanzo, and The Blazing World, by Scream actress Carlson Young.
HollyShorts programmers also booked Jameson, a short written and directed by John Humber and starring Brad Carter.
Ben Lyons, host of The Warmup on TNT and ESPN-LA, returns as the host of HollyShorts’ opening night. The festival is set to run August 9-18 at the TCL Chinese Theater, Harmony Gold Preview House and other locations in Hollywood.
