The Hollywood Film Awards, which will be broadcast for the first time when the show airs on CBS on Nov. 14, announced today that awards will be presented in 18 categories. In past years, the number of awards has fluctuated — last year, 22 trophies were handed out.
In addition to the customary categories like film, director, actor/actress and supporting actor/actress, the televised awards will include a Hollywood Blockbuster Award and Hollywood Comedy Film Award. This year, the awards are dropping craft categories like production, costume design and visual effects, which have been recognized in years past.
In previous years, the awards were announced in advance of the ceremony, but in another change this year, the winners will be announced during the broadcast.
Queen Latifah will host the show, which is being produced by Dick Clark Productions. Executive producers are Allen Shapiro, Mike Mahan, Mark Bracco, R. A. Clark and Carlos de Abreau. The Hollywood Film Awards is owned by affiliates of THR parent company Guggenheim Partners.
