Josh Raffel, who pivoted from handling public relations for Blumhouse Productions to working as a deputy communications director in the Trump White House, has landed a new position in communications for e-cigarette maker Juul, he confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
Before leaving the administration last spring, Raffel headed comms for the Office of American Innovation, an effort led by Jared Kushner, before taking on a larger role.
He is joining Juul as vp corporate communications, reporting to chief communications officer Matt David, according to Politico Playbook.
At the time of his departure, Ivanka Trump lauded Raffel as “honest, passionate and thoughtful” and said, “The White House won’t be the same without him.”
Juul did not release a statement or comment on Raffel’s appointment.
Before joining the White House, Raffel spent six years working for Hiltzik Strategies, the publicity firm founded by former Democratic operative Matthew Hiltzik. (Hope Hicks, the former White House communications director, also worked at Hiltzik Strategies.) From there, Raffel joined up with Jason Blum’s production company.
