The Hollywood Reporter won 12 awards at the L.A. Press Club’s 2013 National Entertainment Journalism Awards, including best entertainment website for THR.com and journalist of the year for executive editor, features Stephen Galloway.
THR led all nominees for the awards, which were handed out at a gala ceremony Nov. 24 at the Millennium Biltmore hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The NEJ awards, now in its sixth year, recognizes entertainment reporters in categories that include criticism, profile writing, multimedia and features.
THR‘s “Victims of Hollywood’s Blacklist” package won three awards: best multimedia, best investigative work and best documentary short.
Editorial director Janice Min, photo and video director Jennifer Laski, creative director Shanti Marlar and photographer Peggy Sirota won in the career best celebrity photo category for their work on “Barrier Breakers: Sidney Poitier and Halle Berry” (2010).
Best photo feature went to Laski, Marlar and photographer Art Streiber for “Jennifer Lopez and Stylists Mariel Haenn and Rob Zangardi.”
Deputy photo editor Carrie Smith, Laski, Marlar and photographer Wesley Mann won best photo essay for “Dodgers.”
Awards analyst Scott Feinberg won best blog by an individual for “The Race.“
Other honorees at the NEJ awards include Lee Daniels’ The Butler actor Forest Whitaker, who received the Visionary Award for improving the lives of others. Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter received the Special Centennial Award, and Los Angeles Times movie critic Kenneth Turan was honored with the Luminary Award for career achievement.
In August, THR.com set an all-time high traffic record, reaching 12.3 million global unique visitors.
