LONDON — A spoof of British soccer hooligan movies such as The Firm, Green Street and Rise of the Footsoldier is now shooting in the British capital.
Nick Nevern directs and has co-written with Michael Lindley the big-screen laugher The Hooligan Factory.
Jason Maza, a familiar face from movies including Rise of the Footsoldier and Welcome to the Punch stars alongside rising British talents Tom Burke (The Invisible Woman) and Josef Altin (TV’s Game of Thrones).
The movie details the story of a young man desperate to live up to the image of his estranged father who ends up falling in with a legendary soccer hooligan recently released from jail.
Maza produces alongside U.K. Altitude Film Entertainment, the production-led movie banner established by Will Clarke, the founder of British producer and distribution banner Optimum Releasing who subsequently orchestrated his company’s multimillion-dollar sale to Studio Canal.
Nevern’s movie also promises confirmed high-profile cameo appearances, including Leo Gregory (Green Street), Tony Denham (The Football Factory) and actor, writer and director Dexter Fletcher (Wild Bill).
Nevern’s résumé boasts Terry, a movie he wrote, directed and starred and also produced with Maza, as well as turns in The Sweeney and G.B.H.
Maza and Clarke produce alongside Andy Mayson (Let Me In) and Mike Runagall (Last Passenger).
The Fyzz Facility is co-financing the project. Think Big Productions and Marshall Leviten (Ginger and Rosa) are co-producing partners.
Nevern and Michael Lindley will be executive producers with the film shooting on location in London with studio work at 3 Mills and Elstree Studios.
