A new trailer for The Host, the film adaptation of Twilight creator Stephenie Meyer’s latest book, was released on Thursday. The latest clip was broadcast live during a Google Hangout with writer/producer Meyer and the cast of the film.
The Host stars Saoirse Ronan (Hanna, The Lovely Bones) as Melanie Stryder, a girl living in a world where almost every human’s body and mind have been taken over by aliens called “souls.” Melanie hasn’t been taken over yet, and neither has her love interest Jared (Max Owens) or the small group of people that she’s been traveling with.
But when a soul called Wanderer inhabits Melanie’s body, Melanie has to try her hardest to resist the temptation of relinquishing her mind and turning over the few who are left uninhabited.
The new trailer takes a deeper look into the story of Melanie and Wanderer, and how they’re both working to control the same body.
Directed by Andrew Niccol, the film also stars Diane Kruger (Inglorious Basterds) and Marcus Lyle Brown (Battleship). It’s scheduled to inhabit theaters on March 29.
