Suzanne Collins' massively popular trilogy made its big screen foray in 2012 with the premiere of The Hunger Games. Top-lined by a critically adored Jennifer Lawrence, Lionsgate's franchise-starter brought in a record-breaking $152 million domestic haul in its first weekend alone. That made it the third highest-grossing opening weekend of all time and the best for a non-sequel.

Target is going high-end for The Hunger Games DVD and Blu-ray release.
In addition to offering pre-orders of the discs, the retailer has announced that it will be selling a solid 14-K gold Mockingjay pin, like the one Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss wears in the film, for an astonishing $999.

But the high-end merchandise doesn’t stop there. Target, which is known for offering a variety of items at inexpensive prices, will also be selling a replica of Katniss’ leather hunting jacket for $349 and a lithograph autographed by 10 Hunger Games actors, including Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth, for $699. The catch: Only 100 of each item will be available for purchase, and they’re only available on Target.com.
The jacket will go on the market Aug. 18, the lithograph will be available on Aug. 19 and the Mockingjay pin will hit shelves on Aug. 20. The DVD and Blu-rays are due for an Aug. 21 release.
For the Hunger Games devotees without excess cash to burn, Target will also sell a wide range of products from jewelry to cardboard cutouts to picture frames and more within a reasonable price range of $6.99 to $37.99.

And once they’ve finished pouring through the special features on the new DVDs, fans can rest assured knowing that Catching Fire is just around the corner. Josh Hutcherson recently told USA Today that he is getting back into fighting shape for his role as Hunger Games victor Peeta Mellark, telling the newspaper that he’s “getting in even better shape this time around.”
Catching Fire is scheduled to hit theaters on Nov. 22, 2013.
