Production on Deadpool 2 got underway yesterday and star Ryan Reynolds has already made an announcement.
Hunt for the Wilderpeople star Julian Dennison has joined the cast of Fox’s superhero sequel, with Reynolds making the news known with an Instagram post.
Dennison joins fellow franchise newcomers Zazie Beetz, playing Domino, and Josh Brolin, who is taking on Cable, as well as returning stars T.J. Miller and Morena Baccarin.
Dennison, a native New Zealander, is best known for starring opposite Sam Neill in Taika Waititi’s indie comedy adventure as the Tupac-obsessed Ricky Baker.
Waititi, who is currently in postproduction on Thor: Ragnarok, took to Twitter to say of the casting: “Never in my wilderpeoplest dreams would I have imagined this picture existing. But…. Yessss.”
John Wick co-director David Leitch is directing Deadpool 2 from a screenplay by returning Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
