Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, helmer of The Huntsman: Winter’s War, has been hired to direct Netflix’s action-thriller Kate.
Screen Arcade’s Bryan Unkeless (I, Tonya) is producing the feature project with Kelly McCormick of 87eleven, the action and stunt banner run by filmmakers David Leitch (Deadpool 2) and Chad Stahelski (John Wick). Leitch is executive producing along with Scott Morgan.
The script by Umair Aleem follows a female assassin who, after being poisoned and with less than 24 hours to live, goes on a manhunt through the streets of Tokyo to take vengeance on her murderer before she dies.
A shoot in 2019 is being planned.
Nicolas-Troyan was a visual effects artists — he was the visual effects supervisor for 2012’s Snow White and the Huntsman, which earned him an Oscar nomination — before making his directorial debut with the 2016 sequel Winter’s War, which starred Chris Hemsworth, Emily Blunt, Charlize Theron and Jessica Chastain.
Nicolas-Troyan is repped by CAA and Bloom Hergott.
