IDW Entertainment and IDW Publishing are continue their restructure with the creation of a new Kids, Family and YA Division to be shared between the two companies, headed up by former Disney Channel executive Jeff Brustrom.
Brustrom had previously worked as an executive at the Walt Disney Company for 17 years, spearheading development on shows including Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place, and That’s So Raven. Following his departure from Disney in 2017, he worked as an independent consultant until joining IDW in the newly created post of Vice President, kinds, family and animation.
Brustrom will be assisted in his role by Daniel Kendrick as director of animation, and Erika Turner as senior editor of original content, IDW Publishing.
Nachie Marsham, publisher of IDW Publishing, said in a statement about the new hires, “Combining Jeff’s deep knowledge of family content with Erika’s experience and ambition for young readers, and Daniel’s passion for animation, will surely result in the success of this initiative. I couldn’t be more excited to see what they will achieve.”
“I’ve always had a passion for creating content that the whole family can enjoy watching together,” added Brustrom. “The opportunity to work with Lydia [Antonini, IDW Entertainment president] to help grow this new initiative and develop great shows together was too alluring to pass up. I’m excited about bringing memorable characters and stories to a new generation.”
