IFC Films has acquired North American rights to Dermot Mulroney’s directorial debut Love, Wedding, Marriage.
Kellan Lutz, Mandy Moore, James Brolin, Jane Seymour and Jessica Szohr star in the romantic comedy written by Anouska Chydzik Bryson and Caprice Crane. The story follows a marriage counselor whose happy newlywed status is complicated by the news that her parents are suddenly talking divorce. Her efforts to reconcile them on the eve of their 30th anniversary surprise party lead to damage in her own life.
Michelle Chydzik Sowa, who worked with Mulroney on The Wedding Date and Inhale, produced through her new banner Chydzik Media Group, which financed the film along with Voodoo Pictures.
“This is a big-hearted and charming film that we are confident will win over audiences,” said IFC president Jonathan Sehring.
Sundance Selects/IFC Films execs Arianna Bocco and Lizzie Nastro negotiated the deal with ICM, which counts Brolin, Szohr and Mulroney as clients. Mulroney will next appear in the films Everybody Loves Whales and The Grey.
IFC Films recently released Cairo Time, Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work, Tiny Furniture and Carlos. The Rainbow Media subsidiary picked up the Sundance 2011 films Uncle Kent, The Ledge, Perfect Sense and Salvation Boulevard (this last with Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions).
