Imogen Poots has nabbed the lead role in Mobile Homes, a Canada-France co-production shooting in Ontario.
Poots is playing Ali, a young woman drifting from one motel to the next with her boyfriend and 8-year-old son. After a crisis rips their lives apart, Ali lands in a mobile home community and must reassess her sense of motherhood.
Mobile Homes was developed by Fréderic de Goldschmidt of Paris-based Madeleine Films and Eric Dupont of Incognito Films. Mike MacMillan of Lithium Studios Productions has boarded the film as a Canadian co-producer.
“Imogen is an incredible talent, helping to bring this unique, exhilarating world to life. We could not be happier to have her as our lead,” MacMillan said Wednesday in a statement. Vladimir de Fontenay is directing Mobile Homes after adapting a short film he wrote and directed.
Universal acquired the Poots-starring drama Frank & Lola, directed by Matthew Ross, after the film made its world premiere in January at the Sundance Film Festival.
