Suki Waterhouse and Jonny Weston are joining YA sequel Insurgent, which has begun shooting in Atlanta.
Summit’s follow-up to Divergent sees the return of Shailene Woodley and Theo James as citizens in a world where people are divided into groups (aka factions) based on certain values. Robert Schwentke is directing the sequel from a script by Brian Duffield and Akiva Goldsman.
The sequel, set for release on March 20, 2015, sees most of the cast returning including Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Kate Winslet, Jai Courtney and Zoe Kravitz, plus Octavia Spencer, who will play Johanna.
Waterhouse, whose deal is done, will play Marlene, a member of the Dauntless faction. Weston’s deal is in final negotiations. He’ll play a new character named Edgar.
The first film based on Veronica Roth‘s popular YA series, Divergent, opened in March, going on to earn $264.3 million worldwide. Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher are producing via their Red Wagon Entertainment banner along with Pouya Shahbazian.
Waterhouse is a British model who is a face of Burberry, and has worked on campaigns for Swatch, H&M and Max Studio, among others. Linked romantically to Bradley Cooper, Waterhouse’s acting credits include Pusher and TV series Material Girl. She’s repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
Weston starred in surfer drama Chasing Mavericks and will next appear in Taken 3 and Project Almanac. He’s repped by ICM Partners and 3 Arts Entertainment.
