They’re magic beans!
Or as the first teaser trailer for Warner Bros.’ action-adventure Jack the Giant Killer describes the famous fairy tale legumes, they’re “holy relics from a very special place, far, far, away.”
Other tips given to the story’s protagonist (played by Nicholas Hoult from A Single Man) about the beans: “They have the power to change the world as we know it.”
And of course, “Whatever you do, don’t get them wet.”

The trailer for the Bryan Singer-helmed project begins with an introduction of the beans and follows Jack through the sprouting of the beanstalk and the missing princess (Eleanor Tomlinson) that needs saving.
In the film, an ancient feud between humans and giants is reignited when a farm boy accidentally opens a gateway between the two worlds via a giant beanstalk. When a princess is taken hostage by a giant, Jack must find a way to save the princess and his world from destruction at the hands of giants.

The trailer for the film showed no trace, however, of the giant’s most famous line from the fairy tale, “Fee, fi, fo, fum! I smell the blood of an Englishman!” The giants actually say nothing at all in this first teaser.
Also missing from the trailer? Any sign of Stanley Tucci, who will play a power-hungry advisor to the king.
The retelling of the famous fairytale also stars Ewan McGregor, Bill Nighy and John Kassir. It’s set for a June 15, 2012, release.
