Jada Pinkett Smith has responded to Oscars host Chris Rock’s jokes about the actress.
“Jada says she’s not coming. Protesting. I’m like, ‘Ain’t she on a TV show?’” he said during his opening monologue regarding the controversy of the acting nominations’ lack of diversity, and Pinkett-Smith’s decision to boycott the ceremony. “Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna’s panties. I wasn’t invited! Oh, that’s not an invitation I would turn down!”
While walking through LAX airport on Saturday, the actress said of Rock’s personal punch lines, “Hey, look, it comes with the territory. We gotta keep it moving.”
“We got a lot of stuff we gotta handle, a lot of stuff going on in our world right now,” she continued. “We gotta keep it moving.”
At the Oscars, Rock also joked about Jada’s husband Will Smith. “[You] said, ‘It’s not fair that Will was this good [in Concussion] and didn’t get nominated!’ You’re right! It’s also not fair that Will was paid $20 million for Wild Wild West! Okay?”
